Qigong therapy explained

I had been on insulin for nearly twenty years because I suffered from diabetes. But I dropped my insulin injection after practicing qigong with Master Suolang Yixi. Although I continue to take medicine, I have stopped the insulin injection already for more than one year.

The purpose for writing this article is to explain the therapy in a scientific way.

The existence of Qi is undeniable. It is in fact a very mighty force. Yinyang and Youwu mentioned in Yijing and Daodejing mean Qi. The natural mighty force that moves the sun, moon and other stars and planets is called gravity by scientists. It is in fact the movement of Qi. Our naked eyes cannot see the gravity, but it moves non-stop day and night manifesting its undeniable existence. Our ancestors compiled the calendar of Twenty Four Jieqi by observation. They accurately calculated the seasons and full moon on the 15th day of the lunar calendar and applied to farming and military operation. Therefore if we understand the movement of qi and its laws we would be able to make use of the mighty power of qi.

Our ancestors developed the calendar, Chinese medicine, Chinese herbs and acupuncture. Likewise they studied the movement of qi in the human body. This is called qigong.

Mr. Qian Xuesen, the renowned “father of rocket of China” recommended the study of qi as early as the 80s in the last century. Qigong is the window to the study of the human body. Qigong is in the same family together with the Chinese medicine. Therefore it is also the key to the study of Chinese medical theory. We must study qigong well if we are to study Chinese medical theory and modernize Chinese Medicine

Mr. Qian is now 96 years old. I saw on TV Mr. Wen Jiabao visiting him in hospital not long ago. Although he was in bed he looked excellent.

Mr. Qian said further: “Science has entered the era of systemization. Therefore the science of human body is Chinese medicine. Western medicine will eventually join Chinese medicine. Now the balance medicine based on Chinese medicine is on the rise. We therefore must combine Chinese medicine with modern science. This is what we mean by the modernization of Chinese medicine. This is also the path of the modernization of medicine.”

Mr. Qian said man learns from self improvement and becomes knowledgeable. This is true since the ancient days. Man has not developed his potential. Therefore we must study qigong and Chinese medicine in a scientific way. We must also study supernaturalism in the scientific way. At last they all fall into the category of human potential.

“Those who are very good in qigong can see through the human body and mobilize Qi for self defense – throwing down people ten feet away. By so doing we combine qigong with supernaturalism. We must study the use of qigong with the senior qigong masters and develop qigong as a subject of study. In overseas countries people value so much qigong and they have made some progress. We must treat this as urgent matters without losing time.”

Under the guidance of good qigong masters we should be able to fully understand qigong and compile a text book and teach it scientifically. Qigong will be stripped of its mysterious veil and accepted by the world as an effective therapy. It will add glory to the already shining Chinese culture.

We are all aware that people fall sick due to blockage or disturbance in blood circulation. Qigong can help undo the blockage and unsure smooth blood circulation. By so doing it can revive the dysfunctional organ. There will be no sickness if qi and blood enjoy free flow according to Chinese medicine.

The most important factor in successful qigong practice is to dispel stress. One must put aside all his worry and concentrate on the practice. Some people do not feel the qigong after a long session because they are unable to lay down their worry. They are stressed because their mind is occupied and their body is stiff. Qi can not find its way to grow in their body.

In a nutshell to relax is to open the valve for qi to develop. This is always the first step.

There are many exercises in Mizong Qigong, for example shaking hands and legs and circling waist are effective for relaxing the human body. Normally people will sweat. It helps to expel toxin from the body and improve the blood circulation. It will also help in trimming the human body. We see many of our lady colleagues losing weight, and looking more beautiful and dynamic after practicing qigong. This is admirable.

I had learned other qigong before, I therefore can feel the qi very quickly and see the differences. It is easy to earn a lot of money but difficult to get a good master, as the Chinese saying goes. I am now 62 years and I am very grateful for getting a good master who has helped to improve my health tremendously. I must say I have benefited a lot in practicing the qigong taught by Master Suolang Yixi.

We often have very incredible experiences during our qigong sessions. We have read “collecting qi” in many Chinese literature. We first thought it is merely fabricated by the authors. But we now realize it is true. Master Suolang Yixi is able to mobilize qi to our practicing venue. When this happens, we just relax ourselves mentally and physically to receive it. The qi will move us. When we are in the state of tranquility we can hear our pulses. It is extremely comfortable.

To collect the qi from the ground is one important lesson we practice almost every day. Master says, the earth grows millions of treasure and its qi complements the human body in many ways. When the qi enters our body we can feel our hands become heavier and heavier. Pulses in our palms become more active. They are sweating. After which every one of us feel that our hands are so smooth as if soap is applied.

Chinese health therapy emphasizes human lives in harmony with the universal. This is no different from environmental protection as we know it today. We therefore value so much when practicing qigong. Master on several occasions had brought us to the woods to collect qi. The places include Genting Highlands and FRIM in Kepong. Collecting qi supplements the five elements, i.e. metal, wood, water, fire and earth in our body. After the session we all feel very fresh and energetic.
