A much joyful relaxing life as a result of qigong training

The harmonization of qian & kun         Umbrella rotates                     Daweide Jinggang                 Padmasambhava

I had the opportunity to learn Mizong Qigong with Master Suolang Yixi when I was 60 years old (in 2006) through the introduction of a former colleague of mine. After practising one week I totally dropped my daily insulin injection that I had been doing in the past twenty years. Now with oral pills alone I am able to maintain my sugar at acceptable level. This is no doubt my second life. My first life was the first 60 years. It is exactly one Jiazi according to the Chinese calendar.

I now enjoy a much healthier life as my sugar level is well under control. I am now able to dine and travel abroad from time to time with my wife. We live a very relaxing life without any stress. Thanks to Suolang Qigong.

I therefore have decided to help promote Mizong Qigong by publicizing this invaluable Chinese therapy so that more people will live a healthy and relaxing life like me.

Master Suolang Yixi keeps telling us when we practise qigong: “We must learn qigong in a scientific way. Dont be superstitious.” One day I conducted an interview with Master Suolang Yixi in order to understand many puzzles so that I can convey his explanation in the newspaper and in our website.

Sometime I see a little “gold dan” in between my two eyes. I asked Master Suolang Yixi what it signifies. He replied: It means you have passed through Xiao Zhou Tian

He continued:You must have experienced this long ago.” This is true.

Many years ago I had learned the Taoist Dan Ding Gong. It was not easy when I went through Xiao Zhou Tian. The qi rose from Weilv. When it reached the neck it encountered a narrow passage. The qi could not go through. The instructor had to press the acupuncture point of Baihui to help the qi to go through when it had built its momentum. But in the case of Mizong,Xiao Zhou Tian and Da Zhou Tian are achieved during our daily practice by shaking our arms, turning our waist and shaking our legs. Xaio Zhou Tian means the free passage of qi channeling the Conception Vessel and Governing Vessel Meridians whereas Da Zhou Tian means the free passage of qi channeling the eight extraordinary meridians.)

Great achievement is actually simple and easy to learn, likewise for Mizong. But sometimes it is not appreciated due to its simplicity. I had heard people comment: “Is it true we can get cured by shaking our hands and turning our waist?” Unfortunately certain quarters deliberately complicated qigong by making it difficult to understand as this may help promote the mentor’s status when it looks very mysterious.

Master Suolang Yixi said, Mizong pursues not only Da Zhou Tian and Xiao Zhou Tian as there are limitations. We pursue Body Zhou Tian. It will open up all meridians. Qi will be able to travel freely throughout the whole body. You feel like floating in the air. You then can achieve free passage of qi and blood throughout the whole body and get rid of all diseases. Merging the human body with the universe is then reachable.

Merging the human body with the universe? What does it mean? Master replied: “It means a person totally absorbed in qigong. He or she has to lay down everything in order to achieve this. For instance if one keeps being disturbed by certain problems and becomes very worried. Too much of love and too much of hatred are mental blocks. It is impossible to achieve ‘merging the human body with the universe’ when these obstacles are around.

He further added: “We can use our imagination. For instance imagine yourself as a tree or a stone, or a cloud flying in the blue sky or above the sea. You think of nothing but tranquility. Then it is easy to achieve.”

Most religious images are created with hand gestures. We too use hand gestures when practicing qigong. Master Suolang Yixi explained that hand gestures have their medical effects as illustrated in the meridian and the acupuncture points in the Chinese medicine. It is not religious.

“For instance in the thumb runs the Taiyang Lung Meridian, index finger runs the Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, middle finger runs the Jueying Pericardium Meridian, ring finger runs the Shaoyang Triple Heater Meridian and little finger runs the Shaoyin Heart Meridian. Therefore making different gestures has therapeutic purposes. If you want to treat your kidney you can touch lightly the finger tips of your thumb, middle finger and ring finger together and drive qi to your Triple Heat Meridian. If qi in this meridian is able to travel freely it will stimulate the upper Qihai and when the qi and blood in the Pericardium Meridian are able to navigate without obstacle it will be able to get rid of thousands of diseases.”

People who have no experience in qigong can try for themselves. Put any two finger tips together very lightly. After a while you can feel the pulses. This is the movement of qi and blood. We strengthen these pulses in qigong training in order to make them powerful enough to drive away the diseases.

Lianhuasheng, the Grand Master of Mizong, in fact was an expert of health care. He ate very little and wore very little; he could resist coolness and tolerate hunger. He saved a lot of people. Therefore people made him a god when he passed away. I believe Jesus, Buddha and Guanyin were made gods because they had saved many lives in miraculous ways.

At the end of every qigong session Master Suolang Yixi wants us to do the “ha-ha stroke”. He explained that the depressed qi in our body will be completely expelled by so doing.

We can feel our venue is full of genius qi when we practice qigong. I asked the Master how he does it. He replied that he uses his own qi to mobilize qi in the universe.

The best way to practice qigong is to keep calm rather than to utter sutra and any other incantation. Of course practice by imagining the empty sky, the sea or a cloud moving in the sky, a ship sailing at sea or part of the universe are advisable methods.

Incantation is in fact sound trembling therapy. Different sounds serve different purposes, open up different channels. For instance, “om” opens the top ring and the throat ring, “a” opens heart ring, “hom” opens naval ring and reproduction ring. When practitioners enter into middle stage by uttering “om”, “a”, “hom” three times it helps to pass urine if one has difficulty in doing it.

Master Suolang Yixi further explained: “Ancient Chinese knew sound trembling can treat many sicknesses as it opens up the channel blockage. They knew breathing itself is a therapy. There is only one way in inspiration but there are six ways in expiration. Inspiration is to breathe in whereas the six ways in expiration are “chui”, “hu”, “xi”, “he”, “xu” and “si”.

We use “chui” to expel heat, “hu” to expel wind, “xi” to expel worry, “he” to dismiss cold and “si” to treat tuberculosis. Therefore we use “chui” and “hu” to treat those who suffer from heart attack as there is heat in their bodies. We use “xi” to treat those who suffer from lung problems. “Xu” is used to treat spleen problem. Those patients normally suffer itchiness with cool air moving around the body. Painful eyes coupled with weariness are the symptoms of liver problem. We treat it with “he”.

Qigong practitioners have premonition. According to Master Suolang Yixi he always sees something that other people do not see, especially when he is in total tranquility. He can see a patient’s sickness, even his past.

Qigong practitioners are especially sensitive to disaster and crisis. I have had the same experience. It was in the middle of September 2008. Upon finishing my afternoon qigong session I took a nap. When I woke up it was around four o’clock. I went to the computer without hesitation and sold all my balance stock although at a loss). The following day saw the collapse of Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch and AIG. The Dow Jones dipped 675.97 points. The financial tsunami hence started. The Dow dropped more that 1,800 points within one week and closed at 8,451.19 on October 10, 2008. The KLCI at the same time closed below one thousand psychological support threshold at 839.28 points. Many blue chips are the major losers.

Chinese ancient literature recorded the teaching of rejuvenation for the true self. We most probably can apply it in order to explain premonition. We humans like other animals possess the instinct ability. For instance many animals are aware of earth quake before it takes place and run for their lives. But we humans have lost those instincts due to our civilization. (Nowadays many people prefer to use the calculator rather than mental mathematic for simple matters. They sooner or later will lose their ability to calculate.) Qigong may help restore those instincts.

Qigong practitioners are more agile and wiser in making decisions.

All these are achievable when the practitioners reach a certain level. For beginners, the most important thing  is to relax, expel worry and anxiety in order to accept qi and to ensure the free flow of qi and blood, and get rid of blockage if there is any. Treating diseases and keeping good health are then possible.
